Parse through memories

Memochi - Dust is a free virtual pet video game wherein you can relive an arcade character’s life in snippets. Developed by AndyL4nd, this is a 2D pixelated point-and-click indie game that uses simple mouse controls to get through the entirety of its content.

Unlike Desktop Goose, Memochi - Dust doesn’t let its character freely interact with your desktop elements. Instead, it’s ensconced within the game’s window and you can only interact with it there. The game doesn’t have much of a challenge to its gameplay either so don’t expect to take too long with unlocking everything there is to see.

Random flashes of life

In Memochi - Dust, you meet a black humanoid creature called Dust. By pressing the red button at the bottom of the screen, you can watch a looping GIF of his memory—complete with looping audio. There are exactly 100 of these memories, which are called “Memochi.” They’re randomly generated and you can glimpse how his life progresses in no order at all—from his childhood to his senior years.

There’s no achievement or reward once you’ve seen all of them. However, there is a secret memory ending you can unlock if you manage to figure out what’s the password that’s been hidden among the memories. At this point, you’ll just be clicking through them all so there’s no worry about your skill in playing this type of game. Unfortunately, this means that the game can get boring after a while.

There are no other buttons to press aside from the red one and the Off button that automatically exits the game. Additionally, launching the game can cause a security error to pop up since it’s not a supported application from the App Store or from a verified developer. To bypass this, just right-click the executable file and click “Open” on the contextual menu.

No need to worry about your skill

Overall, Memochi - Dust has an interesting premise for its virtual pet character. While you can’t directly interact with it directly on your desktop screen, you can at least puzzle out its life story with the snippets of memories you can randomly get. However, its gameplay isn’t really challenging and it doesn’t have any other functionality. Plus, you can’t easily launch it with just your left mouse button.

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.
